Installation Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does Hydrodata for Windows work under Windows 95, 98 or NT?
Yes. Just remember that, while Windows 9x and NT can handle long file names, Hydrodata for Windows cannot.
Don't use long file names when designating the directory into which you are installing Hydrodata.
Q: I inadvertently installed my discs to a directory with more than eight characters in its name. I want to change it but the installation software won't let me. How can I do this?
To change the installed directory, you need to do two things:
You should now be able to reinstall you discs.
- Delete the directory (and all subdirectories) where you previously installed the disc(s). This is to save space for you on your drive.
- Delete "hydro.ini" (if you are using version 3.1x) or "newhfw.ini" (if you are using version 4.0x). These files are in the \windows (or \winnt) directory. You can find them using the FIND tool in Windows Explorer. This is where the installation software looks to find previously installed discs.
